Protect Content
Help protect uses of your news content - by providing licensing information in the article
hnews can have usage rights embedded into each article published.
You can do this by:
- Linking to full details of the usage rights from the article, using rel-item-license (these usage rights can be written by you, rather than those defined by Creative Commons)
Embedding rights in each article is useful because:
- Usage rights travel with the document, and if source information is lost, the usage rights are still available
- Different usage rights can be reflected in each article (for example, where the author is a freelance or belongs to a news agency)
- Aggregators and other re-users of news have more information on which to base their re-use
- People can search for news based on its usage rights
- Defines a default set of rights for users who have no commercial relationship with the originating party
